Lagos, Portugal now has a new yachting name on the map: Alura Yachting, founded by industry veteran Ricardo Martins. Though the brand is new, the person behind it brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience in the nautical world.
After moving from South Africa to Portugal at a young age, Ricardo began his career in the boating industry at 21, working as a dock master shortly after the inauguration of Lagos Marina in 1994. That early exposure quickly developed into a deep professional involvement in the boating industry. Over the years, he built a reputation as a trusted yacht broker, known for his direct approach, market knowledge, and strong relationships across Portugal and beyond.
Ricardo has represented some of the top international boat brands in the country and has worked with both new and pre-owned yachts. He’s built a large, loyal client base by focusing on what truly matters to yacht owners and buyers: clarity, trust, and the right advice at the right time.
Alura Yachting was created out of a clear need for something different – an alternative to transactional, volume-driven sales. Ricardo founded the company to offer a more personal, client-first service, where every yacht search, sale, or upgrade is tailored to how the client actually plans to use their boat.
